Why Do Some Songs Stick in Our Minds Forever?

How and why are certain songs -- not necessarily our favorites -- seemingly imprinted on our brains? Why are songs we learn later in life -- even those we love -- less likely to imprint in the same way?

I must admit, I do find it slightly harder to connect with songs released more recently, compared with those released 5, 6 or even 15 years ago. Granted, I am only 27, but I certainly do notice a difference there.

Ne-Yo discusses what Michael Jackson thought of today’s music (full article can be found here). I have to say, I agree with MJ on this one. Music about getting crunk at the club and bitches doesn’t tickle my fancy AT ALL… unless it’s catchy, then all bets are off!
